Club Champs presentation of medals –16th December.

The Level 3 Open Meets are only for those 9 years or over at the time of the meet. The swimmers compete with swimmers from other clubs and the target for swimmers is to achieve County Qualification.

The Club Champs is an internal competition just for Corsham ASC swimmers. All swimmers including those in stages 5 & 6 of our Learn to Swim programme (widths) are encouraged to enter. Those 8 years and under will do 25m events and those 9 and over are eligible to enter all distances 50m and above. The entry form can be downloaded here: Club Champs Entry Form 2022. Once completed, the form needs to be returned to our Head Coach. To minimise errors, we can only accept entries on a hard copy of the form.  The Club Champs are run as an official event and are licensed. For the younger swimmers this gives them a really good introduction to how competitive events are run and experience of swimming in such events.

Swimmers are encouraged to enter the Team Relays as well and of course there is the opportunity to take part in the coveted Parents’ race.

We will also be holding a quiz night on Friday 9th Sepember from 19:00 – 21:30.  Details to be found here.

    General Gala Information

Once swimmers have left Learn to Swim sessions and moved into the Club’s squad system, they are encouraged to enter Galas, League and Open meets.

The Club holds its own Club Championships in June and September-November each year, run in accordance with Swim England rules. There are also quarterly time trials for the Development Group and Juniors. Above all, Club galas are good fun and provide our swimmers with an opportunity to try competition and gauge themselves against their fellow club mates. Trophies and medals are awarded for the Club Championships.

The Club enters teams into both the Winter and Summer leagues organised by the Wilts County ASA. Representing the Club is an honour and members are expected to fulfil their commitments once chosen for one of the teams. It certainly makes the competition secretary’s task much easier if they know they can depend upon members not to let them down at the last minute.

Throughout the year, the Club also enters swimmers into selected Open Meets which will encourage younger swimmers and those who fit in with the various grading categories. From time to time, the competition secretary will advertise these meetings here on the website and by email, or even approach parents or swimmers directly to recommend participation. There is no obligation to attend any of these Open Meets but they can assist with overall development. They are also a gateway to the Wiltshire County Championships and beyond.

For more details about galas and competitions, please speak to the competition secretary or head coach.
