Happy New Year!
We are well and truly back in the swing of things with the restarting of training sessions last week and annual membership renewal. A few news items for you all:
THANKS
Thank you to everyone who helped make the Annual Corsham Open Meet a roaring success: competitors, referees, timekeepers, sandwich, cake and coffee makers, coaches, door keepers, cheerleading parents et al. We had swimmers from all over the country descend on the Springfield Centre on the 9th and 10th December and we had so many happy competitors and some lovely feedback from visitors.
MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL
As already mentioned membership renewal notices have been issued. Many thanks to those of you who have already updated your records and paid the fees. Please do try to do this task ASAP to help our membership secretary prepare everything in time for the Swim England deadline.
CLUB SURVIVAL AND VIABILITY
You will all be relieved and pleased to hear that our pleas for a secretary have been answered. Morven Lamont kindly offered her services and so the Executive Committee will co-opt her onto the Committee at the next meeting on 1st February. Also, thanks to Julie Owst and Leanne Dunstone for putting themselves forward, and being duly elected as Vice Chair and Swim Mark Coordinator respectively. We must also thank those who agreed to stand for office again. We are still searching for a Masters Representative. Please contact the chair if you feel you can fill this role and be a voice on the Executive for the Masters. The club cannot function without the Executive Committee and for the second year running we were very close to having to call a special general meeting to move to close the club down.
On the subject of volunteering, if you are unable to volunteer regularly could you please consider signing up to the desk duty rota? With over three hundred members I do hope there are plenty of you out there willing to give an hour or so once in a while to this task. Details are at the sign in desk. Please ask.
TAGS, WIDTHS AND COMPETITIONS
We are always looking for people to help with the ‘widths’ and Tags’ sessions – full training and financial support towards a Level-1 qualification in swim teaching can be offered. In addition, competitions like the Club Champs and Open Meets cannot happen without officials (timekeepers etc) – if you can’t commit on poolside on a regular basis but would like to volunteer with the club as a timekeeper at events or in some other capacity, please see Zahid on poolside in the first instance.
ENDING CASH PAYMENTS TO THE CLUB
The treasurer role at this club is hugely important and to make the role more manageable and attractive to future potential volunteers we really need to move towards a cashless system. Therefore, we politely request that you make all payments to the club either by cheque or electronic transfer in 2018. The only exception to this will soon be for payment of single swim sessions (£4), should a swimmer not have a green card. Remember if you don’t have payment or a green card you will not be allowed to swim.
Cheques should be made payable to CORSHAM ASC
BACS Transfer details are:
SORT CODE: 40-18-13
ACCOUNT NUMBER:21376675
Thank you for your continued support for CORSHAM ASC, wishing everyone many individual and team swimming successes throughout 2018.
